Civil War Round Table to Tour Lotz House

On Sunday, July 12th, the Franklin Civil War Round Table will host a tour of Franklin’s historic Lotz House. This home was built in 1858 by German immigrant Johann Lotz, a master carpenter as evidenced by the detailed wood work in the home. During the 1864 Battle of Franklin, the Lotz family sought shelter just across the street in the basement of the Carter home.  After the battle they emerged, finding severe battle damage to their home.

The Lotz House continues to bear scars from cannon balls and blood stains to this day. Numerous Civil War artifacts, antiques and furnishings are on display and the guided tour will provide fascinating facts about the home’s history.

The tour will begin at 3 p.m. Round Table members are admitted free while non-members can attend the tour with a $10 donation to the Round Table. The Lots House is located at 1111 Columbia Avenue in Franklin.
